Don’t Give Up Your Dreams

Every teen needs to understand that prescription and over the counter drugs are not experimental or recreational! This is a video created by a father about his son. Albert was a great guy and friend to my son. We will always miss him!
I hope everyone will share this video with others. Gary wants people to keep Oct. 30 in mind. He’s working on a Fall Back/Take Back campaign and hopes to get a million pills off the street that date. I think that is an awesome goal! If even one other father doesn’t have to go through what this father and group of friends did, the video will have been a success! Thanks for sharing this with us Gary!
Here is a link to a story about Albert by Chanel 11.

Who is playing where?
Jun 5
Why is it so hard to find out what band is playing where? In central Arkansas there are a handful of venues where bands play and a few dozen bands but there isn’t ANY one place you can go to see who is playing where. Read the rest of this entry »
Sex and the City

My daughter forced me to watch this movie. The funny thing is, she had never watched the TV show or the first movie – I have no idea what possessed her to want to see this one. I tried to convince her that it wasn’t what she was expecting (even though I have no real idea WHAT she expected) – but her being the stubborn chick she is, we went anyway. Well, we went to see MacGruber and boy was that a mistake! HORRIBLE!! Don’t waste your money (even for a rental – which it should be in about 3 weeks)! Read the rest of this entry »
Letters to Juliet
May 15
My daughter and I went to see “Letters To Juliet” this afternoon. It was the typical boy doesn’t pay enough attention to girl so she looks elsewhere movies. There were several laugh out loud moments and several tear jerker moments. Pretty much the definition of the romantic comedy. I’d rate it about a 6.5 out of 10.
I upgraded Ubuntu to 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx) last night and had an unpleasant surprise this morning – the fonts were upside down! The login screen looked ok, but after logging in things weren’t so good. Read the rest of this entry »
Facebook Scams

Come on people, wake up and smell the coffee! Pretty much any group that says something like “WHEN 65% OF YOUR FRIENDS JOIN, YOU WILL GET…”, don’t believe them! It’s a hoax. I’ve seen a BUNCH of these groups popping on on FaceBook lately and they are bogus.
Let me start by saying that I’m a firm believer in both Ubuntu and OpenDNS. The problem I had was getting OpenDNS setup to correctly identify the IP address assigned by my ISP. I have a WiFi router that doesn’t automatically update OpenDNS, so I needed a way to keep OpenDNS updated when my IP address changes. Keep in mind that in a configuration like this (pretty common) my computer’s IP address is NOT the IP address that OpenDNS needs to identify my computer so scripts running on the computer can’t easily identify the routers external address. Daybreakers
Jan 10
Having grown up with “old school” vampire movies like Dracula, I have a bit of a problem with a lot of the new age vampire movies. I mean come on, what fun is it when vampires walk into the sun and sparkle (Twilight)? Really? Well, I have to admit that a LOT of the old school vamp rules apply in Daybreakers, but not all and some new weird rules (even for vamp movies) are thrown in to boot! Read the rest of this entry »
